EXCLUSIVE HOTELS IN DUBAI · RESEARCHED GUIDE · CHECKED 20 SEPTEMBER 2026

The most exclusive hotels in Dubai: small, private, and two of the three new ones are not open

Ten hotels chosen for privacy rather than scale: villa ratios, private pools, a beach nobody else can reach. And the honest status of Six Senses, Aman and the World Islands resort that closed in April.

The desert beyond the city. Al Maha's 42 villas each have a private pool, and since 2026 the resort admits children, which most guides have not noticed.

‘Exclusive’ is the most abused word in Dubai hotel marketing, so here is what it means on this page: a hotel that is small enough that you will not queue for a sunbed, or private enough that the beach or the pool is yours. The Bulgari has 101 rooms and 20 villas on its own island. One&Only The Palm has 90 rooms and four villas. Al Maha has 42 villas, each with its own pool, in a conservation reserve. The Royal Mansion at Atlantis The Royal is a single suite that won the region’s best-suite award. That is the standard.

Three names you will have read about are not here as bookable hotels. Anantara World Islands closed in April 2026, per The National, though its page on the operator’s site is still live and still says nothing about closing. Six Senses The Palm was due to open in September 2026 by two accounts and in the fourth quarter by a third; no opening had been announced when we checked. Aman Dubai has broken ground and is variously dated 2027 and 2028. Address Sky View sells its pool to the public and is on the beach-club page instead.

And one correction that matters if you are travelling without children, or with them: Al Maha is no longer adults-only. Marriott’s policy now admits all ages. Bab Al Shams never was. Every ‘adults-only desert resort’ list you have read is out of date.

How to read this page

  • Room counts are the operator's where the operator publishes one. Marriott, Hilton, Bulgari, Dorchester, Kempinski and Four Seasons pages refused our requests, so those figures come from press releases and are marked.
  • Status was checked on 20 September 2026. Amber means the operator's page could not be read this week and the hotel is presumed open.
  • Photographs appear only where we hold an independently licensed image of the property. The rest are text cards; we do not use marketing photography.
  • Awards show the list, the category and the year. A rating from another platform is that platform's, never ours.
  • Links go to the hotel's own site, or to our full profile where one exists.
