The best hotels in Sharjah: one heritage hotel, one beach resort, and five retreats in the desert and the mangroves

Eight properties. The Chedi Al Bait in the restored old quarter is the reason to stay in the city; the Sharjah Collection retreats are the reason to leave it.

Sharjah has one hotel that stands with anything in Dubai and it is not on a beach. The Chedi Al Bait is a 65-key conversion of the merchant houses of the Heart of Sharjah, run by GHM, dry, quiet, and the World Travel Awards’ Middle East’s Leading Boutique Resort for four years running as of 14 September 2026. If you are staying in Sharjah for Sharjah, stay there.

The other reason to book here is the Sharjah Collection: five small retreats owned by Shurooq, the government’s development arm, in the Mleiha desert, the Kalba mangroves, the Al Badayer dunes and the Khorfakkan mountains. Minor Hotels took over their management in July 2026 and the branding may change; the tents, domes and restored houses will not. They are the most distinctive places to sleep in the northern Emirates.

Two facts to hold onto. The emirate is dry, including every hotel, so a beach resort here is a beach resort without a bar. And the beach resort, the Sheraton on Al Khan, is the only full-size one; its card is built from third-party figures because Marriott’s site blocked us.
