The best hotels in Abu Dhabi, sorted by the decision you are actually making

Sixteen hotels in four groups: the city grandees, the Saadiyat beach, Yas Island for the parks, and the three that are not in Abu Dhabi at all. Room counts sourced, awards dated, renovations named.

This photo captures a Saadiyat Island beach at 8 in the morning, nearly empty. I was here to participate in New York Uni
Saadiyat Island's beach. Five of the sixteen hotels on this page sit on it, and the World Travel Awards named it the Middle East's Leading Beach Destination in September 2026.

Choosing a hotel in Abu Dhabi is a geography question before it is a luxury question. The city sits on an island, the beach hotels sit on a different island, the theme parks sit on a third, and the two resorts most often called the best in the emirate are a two-and-a-half-hour drive into the desert or a water-taxi ride to an island with cheetahs on it. A hotel that is perfect for one trip is the wrong hotel for the other three. So this page is grouped by trip, not by star count.

The awards are real and dated. Forbes Travel Guide’s 2026 ratings gave the capital five Five-Star hotels, four of which are below. The MICHELIN Keys, the guide’s hotel distinction launched here in October 2025, gave Emirates Palace two keys and seven others one. The World Travel Awards on 13 September 2026 named Emirates Palace the Middle East’s Leading Luxury Hotel and Four Seasons Al Maryah Abu Dhabi’s Leading Luxury Hotel for the seventh year. We quote those; we do not add a score of our own, because we have not stayed.

Three names you may be looking for are not here. Nobu Hotel Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat has not opened; the latest reporting says the second quarter of 2027. There is no ‘Louvre Abu Dhabi hotel’; the Saadiyat Grove development beside the museum targets late 2026 with no brand confirmed. And there is no standalone Mandarin Oriental: the brand’s only property is Emirates Palace.

How to read this page

  • Room counts come from the operator where the operator publishes one. Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and Accor pages refused our requests, so those figures come from press releases and are marked on the card.
  • No photographs of the hotels. We hold no independently licensed images of these properties and we do not use marketing photography, so the cards are text. The rule is on our photography page.
  • Status was checked on 20 September 2026. One hotel is open with works under way; its card explains what that means for your dates.
  • Awards show the list, the year and the source. A rating from another platform is that platform's, never ours.
  • The links open the hotel's own site. No booking links, no commission.

The city grandees

Six hotels for a trip built around the Grand Mosque, the Louvre, the Corniche and dinner. Emirates Palace is the one with the private beach and the two starred restaurants; the trade-off every source mentions is scale, and the walk from the room to the beach can be the longest part of your morning. Four Seasons and Rosewood face each other across Al Maryah Island, which is where the capital’s restaurant scene has concentrated: choose between them on the room, because the neighbourhood is the same. Conrad at Etihad Towers has the Corniche beach and Li Beirut. EDITION is the design choice at Al Bateen marina. Erth is the surprise: a rebranded government hotel by the mosque with a 350-metre Blue Flag beach and a starred restaurant.

Saadiyat beach

The beach trip. All five sit on the same stretch of protected sand with turtle nesting in season, the Louvre and the new museums ten minutes away, and Fouquet’s and Beirut Sur Mer in the cultural district behind. Jumeirah Saadiyat is the calmest and holds a MICHELIN Key. St. Regis has Buddha-Bar Beach and the Sandcastle kids’ club, and a renovation running into October 2026 that its card explains. Park Hyatt sits beside the golf club. Rixos Premium is ultra all-inclusive and was Condé Nast Traveler readers’ eighth-best hotel in the Middle East in 2025. Saadiyat Rotana is the value pick on the same beach.

Not in Abu Dhabi at all

Three resorts that appear on every ‘best hotels in Abu Dhabi’ list and are nowhere near it. Qasr Al Sarab is the Empty Quarter, two and a half hours out, and one of the most photographed hotels in the country. Sir Bani Yas is a wildlife island 250 km west with three Anantara resorts and a water taxi. Eastern Mangroves is the exception: it is in the city, on the mangrove channel, and is the hotel for a trip built around kayaking rather than beaches.

What we could not confirm

  • The St. Regis Saadiyat renovation dates come from Marriott's page as reported in search results; the page itself blocked us. We show the notice as reported and tell you to confirm.
  • Kids' club names for Four Seasons, Conrad, Park Hyatt, EDITION, Eastern Mangroves and Sir Bani Yas were not readable on the operators' pages. Where the card is silent, ask the hotel.
  • Emirates Palace and Erth do not print a room total on their own sites; the figures shown are from third parties or press, and say so.
  • Travel + Leisure's World's Best 2026 list surfaced no Abu Dhabi hotel in our search. We have not read the full list and do not claim there is none.
  • We have stayed at none of these hotels. Every card is a researched guide, not a review, and the label at the top of the page says so.

Questions readers ask

Which Abu Dhabi hotels have Forbes Five-Star ratings in 2026?

Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island, Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, per Forbes Travel Guide's 2026 ratings published in February 2026. The first four are on this page.

What are the MICHELIN Keys and which Abu Dhabi hotels have them?

The MICHELIN Guide's hotel distinction, awarded in the UAE for the first time on 11 October 2025. Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental holds two keys. Erth, Jumeirah Saadiyat Island, Rixos Premium Saadiyat, Conrad Etihad Towers, Four Seasons Al Maryah, Qasr Al Sarab and Rosewood Abu Dhabi hold one each.

Is Nobu Hotel Abu Dhabi open?

No. It was announced for 2026 on Saadiyat Island with 165 rooms planned; the most recent reporting we found puts the opening in the second quarter of 2027. Do not book a trip around it.

Which is the best beach hotel in Abu Dhabi?

For quiet, Jumeirah Saadiyat Island. For families, The St. Regis Saadiyat or Hilton Yas Island, with the St. Regis renovation caveat on its card. For a private city beach, Emirates Palace or Erth. All-inclusive, Rixos Premium Saadiyat. We have not stayed at any of them, so this is a researched steer, not a verdict.

Where should I stay for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?

The W Abu Dhabi Yas Island, which bridges the circuit, for the 4 to 6 December 2026 race weekend; then Hilton Yas Island on Yas Bay. Both sell out months ahead. Ticket prices are on yasmarinacircuit.com; we did not capture them.

Is Qasr Al Sarab in Abu Dhabi?

It is in the emirate, in the Liwa desert about two and a half hours' drive from the city. It is a destination in itself, not a base for the city's museums or beaches.
